Hadassah I Call To You Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Hadassah I Call To You

(Based from the story of Queen Esther)

As you walk in the streets, I see you with such grace;
Your outer beauty displayed by your character.
Behold the glory of your hair and of your face
Given to you for a purpose that comes nearer.
Hadassah I call to you.

Like any other woman, you want to be free
To live with a smile in the midst of your comfort
But your beauty was summoned by the king’s decree
And your simple dreams now from you start to abort.
Hadassah I call to you.

Think of it not as a loss but eternal gain,
The ones we love shall surely benefit from this.
Let not the labors of your kin be brought to vain,
Do the part I gave for our people to have peace.
Hadassah I call to you.

Present yourself towards before authority
And say the words, not minding if you may perish.
For I’ll be there to guide throughout eternity
And make your every moment with gladness lavish.
Hadassah I call to you.

Go and display your faith, not just your countenance.
Generations must see my power’s abundance.
Hadassah I call to you!
