Heaven’s Shores Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Heaven’s Shores

Embarked for first life’s journey away from home
Had I once been while stored in a mortal frame.
Now past the entrance — near the seashores I come
To step on the land where things are not the same.

I walk along the peaceful waters of Heaven’s Shores,
Gazing at the rising sun of dawn’s new day.
Light wraps my soul with its Everlasting Source
And bids me welcome, giving strength in each ray.

Then I felt from a distance the gentle bliss,
Feels like all joys once spilled and lost in darkness
Restored in my spirit with God’s loving kiss.
No more reasons left to shed tears in sadness.

Fled are the nights I wept in lamentations,
For I was yet in my mortal mind those years.
I am free at last from intoxications!
Nothing more to burden me of guilt and fears.

Heaven and its blissful shores, waters so pure!
Soft and dear little waves touch my very toes
While walking with my Master of great love sure,
Sweet tender mercies with no one to oppose.
