Haiku Series- Before It's Too Late. Poem by M. Asim Nehal

Haiku Series- Before It's Too Late.

Rating: 5.0

murder of humanity
killer of nature's beauty
destroying our home.

trees, rivers, and skies
all fall victim to our greed
nature cries in pain.

plastic in the seas
animals struggling to breathe
we are the destroyers.

greed and selfishness
blinding us from the truth
our planet suffers.

Oh humanity
we must wake up and repent
before it's too late.

let us be mindful
preserve what's left of nature
for our future's sake.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My heart cries when I visit these places, which I did 30 years ago, and I see the pathetic state of nature and how recklessly we continue to destroy them today.. Is it our greed or something else that has caused us so much harm and now we accuse others of the same thing? Nature is always kind to us and reciprocates what we do to it. War, overexploitation of resources, competition in building road infrastructure, high-rise buildings cutting down forests, destroying animal habitats, it's time to look back, ponder and take corrective measures to overcome and repair the paths.

Great reminder and a wake up call for all of us. You are too good in writing haikus.
