Haikus - Nature Poem by Ravi Kopra

Haikus - Nature

under the table
the cat is
in deep sleep.

***

on the hanging bird feed
a lonely dove wails
calls her mate.

***

a frog siiting
by the pond
broods.

***

The cat plays
throwing its mouse toy
up in the air again and again.

***

the deer grazing in the field hearing
footsteps, raises it neck and
wiggles its tail and ears.

***

the mother hen makes cuk-cuk sounds
a day old dozen chicks follow
her obediently.

***

a little puppy
startled by thunders
runs home, scared.

***

A train whistles passing near
an Indian village. The kids in the fields
wave. The cattle keep on grazing.

***

the master returns home after a
long absence, his dog jumps in joy
trying kissing him.

***

burning summer heat in India,
a peasant is sound asleep
under a tree on a cot.

***

first monsoon rains in India
the village pond's frogs
croack all night till dawn.
