Halloween Night Poem by Neela Nath Das

Halloween Night

Rating: 5.0

There's no wind, no people around.
But, I have heard an uncanny sound.
The slides of the windows danced
As stormy winds upon it pranced.
The waning moon has lost its ray
For the lack of light so to say.
A large winged nocturnal bird
Stretched its wings moon-ward.
Was there anybody breathing just
Behind my shoulder and burst
Into laughter invisibly right then?
I saw a shadow near windowpane.
A sudden whirl entered into room.
Astonished I noticed a flying broom.
A pumpkin-faced witch hovered in
The air with her old wrinkled skin.
Such a face I haven't ever seen,
Before this night of Halloween.
