Happiness Is Here Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Happiness Is Here

Rating: 5.0

This thing called happiness!
Wanting it the most— this beast,
He still knows it the least.

More than to be truly happy,
Man likes to show he's happy
To others, to his neighbours,
He's happy if others him envy.

Happiness can't be had in things,
It is there in man's thinking,
The day he decides happy to be,
Happiness sprouts from within.

It's not in getting what's wanted,
But in liking whatso is got,
The joy in getting the mundane is fleeting,
It is in liking what is, joy is lasting.

It is in what comes your way.
To enjoy happiness today,
Rid the greeds of greater goal
And be in touch with your soul.

In small things lie great joys,
And beware, joys are like toys
Which, as you grow up you change,
They come in a thankless range.

Know, none feels happy all alone,
Share it; joys are not in owning,
Joys when shared gather dole,
Parts add up to more than whole.

Most of what you like, others too,
Look at it from their point of view.
If you like good salary's hue
Good work, by him who hires you.

If must, compare with him who's poorer,
Find, how happier you feel,
With one spiritually rife,
Compare your outlook on life,

And green shall look every grass,
Feeling, this too shall one day pass,
Joy and grief move like earth and sky,
They rotate; not so lasts nigh.

And try ridding that vain mask
Try in your own glory to bask,
Live close to your innate nature,
That mask can scarce give you stature.

Develop a spiritual state
Where there's pleasure, nor painful fate,
A steadier state of mind
To notso in world so madly inclined.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Reading this poem I infer that happiness lies in the contentment of one's heart. Happiness doesn't come in same packages and receiving doesn't come in same intensity, too. Gracias! ! !

You have so astutely delineated about happiness entwining with spiritual state. Here I want to quote...Happiness can't be had in things, /It is there in man's thinking, /The day he decides happy to be, / Happiness sprouts from within. Happiness depends upon intellect and mind. We can get nice definition on peace and happiness from Geeta..2/66. Thank you dear Pathak sir for sharing this gorgeous poem with us.

May be, but there is a lot to say on happiness, being chased by everyone but understood by few. (not quite even by this poet who has penned many poems on the subject) .
