Happy Idul Fitri
residing in Jakarta,
does my dear genius brother
lends his ears to the fierce deafening sounds,
near and far,
so many streets and avenues,
so many mosques,
the shrill loud noises,
he is used to it
for decades,
how many times a day?
How often Today?
My dear brother never complains,
he only smiles and
says that will soon be over,
just like all other moments,
events,
but today it is
Idul Fitri,
New Year for Muslims around the world,
let me congratulate
my neighbours
first
the phone call with my dear bro ends,
he has to get on with his work
The fierce noises from the mosques?
He's used to it
as he prays to God,
he prays and gives thanks for the many blessings,
With this poem, I want to wish the Muslim community all over the world a Happy Idul Fitri
especially in the Netherlands
the annual Sugar Fest,
it's so cozy
and so many super delicatessee!
