Heart To Knock Out Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Heart To Knock Out

You took from me my heart to knock out.
Leaving me on knees.
To plead for more of your love.
You took from me my mind to twist.
Doing it to have me sit.
Feeling tricked and stupid.
Hoping I would never be able,
To climb out of that emotional pit.
I was down for a 'minute'.
That I will admit.
But I'm hoping one day you will feel to know this!
You will never find from another,
To discover what I gave.
Folks today only want a piece to taste.
Before they get up to quickly leave.
No.
You will never find what I gave to give.
To think it can be easily retrieved.
Because you use your beauty.
As a weapon to tease.
What I gave was truth, devotion and honesty.
With no going through the motions.
Just to get my wants and desires pleased.
You took from me my heart to knock out.
And I hope one day,
If that should happen to you.
You will not be left on knees.
Feeling guilt for what you put me through.
To discover,
Beauty to lose it is only skin deep.
Since love to know it and kept to feel,
Today is a rarity.
And between two very hard to keep.
