Heaven - Poem by ashlie mclaren

dad says shes gone to heaven
i wonder why shes gone? '
when will she be back?
i hope it wont be long

my mother was very ill
im surprised she's gone away,
we dont have friends in heaven
i wonder where she'll stay

dad didnt touch his tea tonight
not even a single bite,
mum still isn't back yet
i think theyv'e had a fight.

im angry with my mum
shes left me on my own,
dad wont take me to see her
she wont even phone

he bought me a new black dress today
the reason i dont know why,
he told me i had to wear it
he was trying not to cry.

we set off for the church
dad wipes the tear from off his eye,
'why have we come hear dad? '
he says ' weve come to say goodbye'

i see family and friends
comforting my dad,
they approach me and tell me
what a brilliant mum i had.

thats when i realise
all these thoughts running through my head,
i will never see my mum again
because my mum is dead.
