I
They say heaven waits beyond the sky,
Where angels sing and spirits fly;
But what if heaven is not so far,
Not hidden beyond some distant star?
II
Heaven is a mother's tender embrace,
A helping hand, a smiling face;
A friend who stays when others depart,
A little kindness that heals the heart.
III
It is hope that survives through pain,
A gentle sun after the rain;
It is love that asks for nothing in return,
And kindness that keeps the cold heart warm.
IV
So let us build heaven day by day,
With every kind word and good deed we say;
For heaven may not be somewhere above,
Heaven is the world we create with love.
