His Place At Table Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

His Place At Table

Rating: 4.0

Dying suddenly, he went without saying goodbye
The love and joy of her life, focus and; heart's delight
Husband and father, family rock in stormy weather
Navigator guiding through good and bad times.
Children full-grown with children of their own
Each grandchild a tribute to their grandparents' love.
He was gentle and kind, loving and compassionate
And about to retire to take life relaxed and easy
Touring the world with her to see new exciting sights.
Many years have passed and still she grieves
Laying a place for him at her dinner table.
Often, she sits remembering him and his smile
His empty chair beside her, photo on the mantelpiece
And in tears she thanks God they were soulmates.
