Honesty Policy Poem by Sandra Feldman

Honesty Policy

We are supposed to know the difference,
Between right and wrong,
Innumerable texts written about it,
So how come we haven't learned yet?
How to live honestly, working for what we get.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Two things you say so truthfully: We humans have many wise and thorough guides to moral behavior, both revealed texts and literature. I would count Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST as a shining work of Moral Purpose. Second, we humans continually fail to do what is right and enhances our common humanity. Despite the models and encouragement, we continually go awry. Last nioght when I was driving home from that luminous ROMEO AND JULIET I passed a police cordone where a man shot and seriously wounded a police officer and then he was shot by officers. To what end such violence? ? ? Keep lifting your voice to speak the truth, Sandra!
