Horizons - Poem by Sandra Feldman

Stories told, stories bold,
On the stage, books or cinema,
Always teach, have far reach,
And can mold new and old,
Open gates, change your fate,
Dissipate, lonely wait,
Travel forward, inundate,
Make you feel your human state.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Always felt that books, the theater, the cinema were a great mirror of and for life, not only realistically but at times mixed in with fantasy. Great teaching tools in an artistic fashion. Best friends, to make you a better human being.

In a nutshell of a poem you express the value of the Humanities. That was the name of the program in which I taught literature and composition for the last twenty years of my teaching career. The emphasis is: what does it mean to be human? Your poem provides the details, a lifetime of artistic experience provides the stimulus, and happy, humane people, the result. (Report) Reply

You are right when admiring the ancient greek miracle, the first to teach humans where the joy from, poesy first, dance, history recite, music in competition, drama, lyrics, stadiums, festivals and all these for the masses, to participate all the citizens, even free entrance tickets for the theater for more than 9 hundrend years, and the most important schools for all children since the 6th cent. b.d.//And that's all because it was the poets not a clergy cast who formed the myths, there was not an official dogma ever, religious one, and most important they were of the opinion that gods were under the power of the nature, and men for that exactly reason free to form their laws for their own state. It is why they proceeded to establishing the democratic system on which is based our own western civilization. I devote at least 8-10 hours a day to reading. Mostly educational things but the joy of learning and discovery is incalculable (Report) Reply
