How Admirable The Stately Trees

Rating: 5.0

How admirable the stately trees
that make no sound until a blast
of wind in autumn makes them sneeze,
as on the ground their leaves they cast.

Oh what a contrast to those men
who need no wind to make them walk,
yet cannot with their throat or pen
compete with trees that do not talk!

Excellent penning Gershon, trees are my favourite subject and this is a lovely write about them. I once read a book called 'Meetings With Remarkable Trees' by Thomas Pakenham, and since doing so have adored trees and really appreciated them so much more than I ever did before. It is a great book, don't know whether you can get it where you are but it is really worth a try. First published in 1996 by George Weidenfeld & Nicholson Ltd. Paperback edition 1997 By Pheonix Illustrated, Orion Publishing Group,5 Upper St. St. Marint's Lane, London WC2H 9EA - ISBN 0-75380-237-6. You might like to look it up, I think you would find it very interesting. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

Yes, how wonderful the world would be if all human beings exuded as much beauty and usefulness as the stately trees of the fields. They say not a word but speak volumes. Men who have the capacity to sharpen their intelligence and to speak eloquently often choose ignorance and Unintelligibility gershon, this is a fine penning.
