Human Possession Poem by Louie Levy

Human Possession

Rating: 5.0

Explosive sounds
An awakening shriek, terrorizing
the silenced peace of
fleeting Deer and paternal Doe

Once freely grazing, athwart greener pastures
Innocence sweats, for hungered substance
Discovering crystal clear streams
that welcome grateful thirsts.

Inherently given, Earths freedom for survival
All but those, who devour with possessive power
Whom sport as relentless, selfish inhuman foe.

'The deep hath calm: the moon hath rest: but
we Lords of the natural world are yet our own dread enemy'
~Oscar Wilde* in 'Humanitad'~

Man is using nature and is never caring to replace what he takes. Man uses nature for his selfishness. What we have now, is the gift of nature's. Our ancestors saved this Earth for us, and it is our duty to save it for the next generation. Many creatures have disappeared from the face of the Earth; it is because of our doings. But we don't even feel sorry for it. We are always wrapped up in our own thoughts of greed and selfishness. 'Nature has enough for man's need, but not enough for man's greed' -Mahatma Gandhi. But nature is giving more than we want without complaining, but we are always never satisfied and want more and more of everything. The beautiful grasslands and forests have disappeared, in their place stand giant buildings and things, man's luxurious home. But would they ever match nature's People always cry when they lose something valuable or something they 'own'. But what do they own? 'Whatever you belong today, belonged to someone else yesterday and will belong to someone else tomorrow. Then, what is the use of crying? ' -says the Bhagavat Gita 'You didn't take anything with you when you were born, and you wouldn't take anything with you when you die. So nothing is yours.' Everything is lent to us by nature. And we are bound to care for it, because it is not ours. We say beauty? We say we own nature. But how can we 'own' Nature? We are owned by her. We are bonded to her as children to mother. Killing nature is equal to killing our mother. Humans incessantly explore experiment, create, and examine the world. These help and harm us a lot. The days are gone, when peace and tranquillity used to prevail throughout the world. There are still many things that humans keep unshared to the world We should live life by giving and forgiving, not by getting and forgetting. Thanks for this marvellous poem, Uncle Louie. It is beautiful.100 +++++
