Canção do Hidrógrafo

Se marcares, ao largo, o lampejo
De um farol a marcar o caminho
Saberás ser o nosso desejo
Que jamais tu navegues sozinho.

[Note: the above poem is not my original work, but is inscribed on a lighthouse marking the Easternmost point of South America (see my poem 'Earliest Sunrise') . The English translation below is mine.]

Song of the Hydrographer

If, as you set sail, you take note of the flash
Of a lighthouse to mark the way
You will know it to be our desire
That you never sail alone.

What has happened to Captain Sepulveda's comment? Did Poem Hunter delete it because it contained a URL? For me, this is a huge disappointment to discover that it is gone!

Readers, what a pleasure it was for me to read Captain Sepulveda's comment! If you copy the URL he included, you can find the complete song. It has several verses. I was very surprised to find that the writer of the song was still alive. I would have thought him to be deceased for about a hundred years! There is also a button there to download the song and listen to it in Portuguese!

This translation of the inscription on a light house is a real tribute to the light houses situated anywhere in the world. Thanks. The message gives strength to sailors and the voyagers of sea.

Rajnish, thank you so much for commenting. For more than six years, you are the only other person except for Captain Sepulveda to comment on this, and now his comment has disappeared. You haven't posted lately. Please come back, my friend.
