I Am Tired And I Want To Sleep Poem by Paula Glynn

I Am Tired And I Want To Sleep

I am tired and I want to sleep,
It has been a tiring day,
The office was manic,
And the tills never stopped chinking.
I woke up at seven this morning,
To face a day far from boring,
There were customers, visitors,
And money exchanging hands.
And I had to pick up the kids from school,
I had to cook dinner that they would eat,
Because my son does not like his greens,
And he definitely hates apples,
But my daughter is at that awkward age,
I just sigh in acceptance,
She will do what she will.
So I am sorry you called:
I am shattered and need those ten hours,
I can't even summon up the energy,
To watch TV.
I know you want to talk to me,
But I need time to myself,
Time to unwind, lying secure in my bed,
In a warm, comfortable room,
Made just for me.
