I Count The Moments - Poem by Nate Vander Els
I count the moments till I can gaze into your liquid brown eyes again.
That projection of you.
You take in the world while I take you in.
I see myself reflected there,
Not just refracted light,
I see my true self in you.
I count the moments till I can kiss your velvet soft lips again
That simple, ultimate expression that whispers 'I love you' without words.
As we hold each other cares, thoughts of other things, melt.
Complete release, entering fully into one single moment of shared perfection.
I count the moments till I can hold your radiant self in my arms.
My whole being focused on the wonder of you,
That collection of minutiae that equals something so much greater than the sum of its parts.
That 'greater than' has changed my world forever,
And I long to feel your touch reaffirm my love.
I count the moments till I hear your honey-sweet voice again.
Silly pretend voices sent over hundreds of miles forgotten,
That often lost sweet discourse of the human to human
Epitomized by your wild talk of lost dreams.
When I can tell you how I feel and see you feel the same.
