I Just Wanted Poem by Jaishree Nair

I Just Wanted

I just wanted a hand to unlock the prison of my little dreams and let them soar.

I just wanted an ear to listen to my rambling thoughts each day.

I just wanted a smile to set free the laughter bottled deep within.

I just wanted a glance to lighten the burden of my endless chores.

I just wanted a touch to tell me that I truly mattered in your life.

I just wanted the conversations where my voice, too, could find a place.

I just wanted to raise the curtain of my life, buried beneath the storms of your demands.

So I learned to love without being held, to speak without being heard, and, slowly, to survive in the silence between us.

For deep within, I knew Respect cannot bloom where one voice must always drown.
