I Took Their Advice, Of Course Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I Took Their Advice, Of Course

Tell me,
What is the point of chasing the same people...
Who run into the same deadends and brick walls,
With claims they have a faith that is steadfast.

'The other day I told someone,
To watch out for the oncoming traffic...
As they were walking across the street,
Talking on their cellphone.
I was told to mind my own business.'

What happened?

'They got hit by a car.'

What did you do?

'I took their advice,
Of course.
It's difficult to do sometimes.
But...
I'm learning.'
