I Wrote A Love Poem Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

I Wrote A Love Poem

About all our yesterdays,
That first ardent kiss,
Your arms keeping me safe in
An embrace so tender.
Our last walk in the snow, composed
A love poem in my heart and
I thought the moon and stars were
There, just to share our love.
I wrote a love poem when we thought
It was over,
Some silly rhyme, taunting you with
The words, you would only be mine.
We laughed later at the silliness and
The wasted time!
I wrote a love poem when we said 'I Do', and
A love poem to again express to you how dear
you were to me, and how I never wanted to be
Free from your kisses, your touch, loving you
So much!
I wrote a love poem on the day we said our
Last good-bye,
On that day you died,
With me at your side and you in that
Last breath you ever took, whispering
My name.
I wrote a love poem just yesterday...and all
The days before to you my love, to you!
