If Poem by Bri Mar

If

Rating: 5.0

This very word,
Is so often abused,
In reality it's blurred,
It leaves us confused.

The facts we belie,
By its very presence,
Reality we deny,
It doesn't bring pleasance.

It brings on grief,
When brought into play,
Though very brief,
It causes affray.

What you didn't do,
Cannot be changed,
That's why it's true,
It leaves us deranged.

You feel the contrition,
It hurts inside,
It's this condition,
You then try to hide.

It makes you feel blame,
Where no blame exists,
Then there's the shame,
Which forever persists.

We need to face facts,
It's an aberration,
See through its cracks,
It's our imagination.

It will haunt you forever,
Don't give it a whiff,
Make it your endeavour,
Not to say,

A wonderful poem on the word if. Very rightly you have pointed out its negative effect. Enjoyed the flow of the lines. Thanks for sharing.
