If Love Should Then Belong To Me Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

If Love Should Then Belong To Me

Rating: 5.0

No blossoms brighter of the spring
No sweeter song the lark would sing,
When tulips may and daffodils
Would drape the fields and distant hills,
When bluebells bloom beneath the wood
Their sight would never seem so good,
A better place this land would be
If love should then belong to me.

The summer sky no deeper blue
No greater scene no better view,
When meadows in the sunlight shine
Should warm that lonely heart of mine,
And where the gentle stream does flow
My happiness would truly grow,
A better place this land would be
If love should then belong to me.

When trees of autumn did unfold
That never shone in finer gold,
Then make a carpet where I tread
To guide the way for me ahead,
The sight of purple heathered moor
Would seem much greater than before,
A better place this land would be
If love should then belong to me.

And when the winter snows shall fall
Across the ground and cover all,
To paint a picture there complete
Where dreams were never made so sweet,
And in the sky that crystal night
Where stars have never shone so bright,
A better place this land would be
If love should then belong to me.
