Ii Sentry Song - Poem by Chin Cee

Hear the sentry sing his song:
–old soldier of all time–
‘let the wind carry my voice
through the deep and silent night!

‘I am the holder of the word
stumbled beside the stump
for the wisdom spread around
the noiseless feet of silent ones

‘Done is the dance of yester years
so the sins of bygone days
now the drumbeats in the nights
toll the hopes of time's long lines...’

Hear the sentry sing his song:
‘I am the bearer of the light
when the stormy cloud is thick
I am the carrier of the call

When the dark angel shall knock
On a soul's dark nightsome door
I am he must rise to conquer
with the shield of golden light.
