Immigration Poem by Koffi B Sossou

Afflicted and overwhelmed by the crisis of life, you decide to fly
Many will die on the way, but your burning desire tells you to try
Engulfed by the sea, you struggle to survive
Driven from the killing sea, you stay alive

Outrageous becomes the dream land
Killing is the place where you land
People hate you and name you stranger
Obviously, you find your life in danger

Merciful person offers you shelter
Amazed to see that your hider is a monster
Numb, enslaved and owned is your life
Aloof, you call your people for home path

Sorrow and tears befall you daily
Say no to all precarious immigration bravely
Everybody wants a better place to build a dome
However, nowhere is better than home
