Imminent Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Imminent

Imminent!
Is the presence of danger.
Threatening to erase,
Left traces of consciousness.
Kept to be dared,
By anyone enlightened.
Unfrightened.
And awakened from an overdose of tricks.
Mastered to inflict quick,
For those awaiting...
To have their deluded lives,
Fixed and cemented in denial.
With a permanence dependent,
On a darkness thick.
In deception and betrayal defended.

Imminent!
Is the epidemic.
Imminent!
Is the threat of this disease.
Imminent!
Is the presence of this danger.
And imminent,
Is the support given...
By those who endorse,
Aborting their own...
Fading mentalities.
Eventually from them to leave.
With beliefs to have had.
Volunteering them a welcoming to distort!
