Impossible Idealism Xii Poem by Sadiqullah Khan

Impossible Idealism Xii

Desire the impossible,
To know the limitations of things.
Discipline and dedication
For a worthy cause,
To undertake any task
Which the history might assign.

Mean everything you say,
For ‘The blood of the patriots
In this country has been shed,
For demanding treatment in conformity
With civilized standards'.

For ‘If I must die, let me declare
For all to know, that
I will meet my death like a man'.

Quoth Nelson Mandela
From the five points jotted -
To face a trial from the dock.
April 20,1964. (conversations with myself)
