In The Eyes Of My Heart My Parents Come Before God Poem by Daya Nandan

In The Eyes Of My Heart My Parents Come Before God

I wish i could repay my parents for all they have done,
Giving me life like the earth has been given by the sun,
For all the love and care they have showered upon me,
All the effort and persistence they have put into making me see,

The importance of virtues like honesty, persistence, hope and courage,
How crucial it is to avoid feelings of hatred, vengeance and rage,
Decades of their lifespan sacrificed for their child,
And even through the bad times they always smiled,

Knowing that one day i would grow up to be a good man,
Believing beyond doubt in myself knowing i always can,
They put up with my flaws, rudeness and stupidity,
Directed me to a path of righteousness, compassion and nobility,

And though i am yet to be perfect i have them to thank,
For guiding me on the path towards knowledge's bank,
I am proud to be their son whom they have touched with their hearts,
Whom they have cared for and loved with their parenting arts,

I will do my best in life for a part of them lies within my soul,
As well as warm memories i shall remember until the day i grow old,
And if there is life after death i shall remember them in my spirit form,
For their effort used to putting me through life's trials and storm,

They have given me love and brought me joy since my birth,
They have made heaven for me a place upon earth,
And many may disagree and find this usual and odd,
In the eyes of my heart my parents come before god,
