Infinite Rondeau Poem by Harley White

Infinite Rondeau

Rating: 5.0

Infinity is what we sense
when musing on the vast immense
with universes yet to mold
in starry heavens still untold
awaiting gazers in suspense.

Astronomers of why and whence
search stelliferous pathways dense,
as dreamers dreamily behold
infinity.

The great sidereal events
in views the firmament presents
upon the cosmic canvas scrolled
shall neverendingly unfold
for poets of the future tense
infinity…

Infinity is more than a concept in of itself...if I must say, thought is more than a thing... in of itself, Time is more of a thing in of itself, there are many so called..not things in of themselves.infinite is time, limited thought puts limits on concepts that dictate staunch opinions in of themselves

Your comment brings to mind a quote from a favorite sage of mine who said the following: “On inquiring into the nature of the mind, one finds that there is no mind. It arises from distorted thoughts. The mind that has some definable aspect stems from delusion. It is like the wind in the sky which has no abode.”

Although not a thing, in and of itself; infinity is a truly interesting and useful (to a degree) concept. I have oft mused that given infinity, an infinite number of events can happen. The addendum to that is that given infinity, those infinite possibilities occur infinitely. I can't possibly understand that experientially, or even abstractly. Every thing is happening all the time. : -)

Indeed this is certainly a concept that defies intellectualization. Still, I’m glad you found the poem thought-provoking. Infinity boggles the mind yet our fascination persists…

I am a dreamer, the vast immense has captivated me since my childhood, the expanse is a tapestry in motion and you put a spin on it that I so adore, as I think of the enormity of deep space, I think of your poetry. Poet Keats just touched the fringes of the heavens, you take the proverbial bull by the horns! ! ! I love this poem! ! !

Ah yes, me too. I remember as a child realizing that when one tries to imagine an end to space, it is impossible. I still find that so and am drawn to M-Theory with its multiple dimensions and ramifications of ‘bubble brane’ universes, as you may know from some of my other poems. At any rate, I’m truly pleased this poem tickled your fancy! I certainly tackled a big subject (smile) … Thank you so much for your always welcome feedback!

This poem puts all in perspective. To write about infinity is to be part of it.
