Info Fishers Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Info Fishers

All over the place they are.
Casting lines to redefined,
What is caught they did not catch.
And tossed to those blind.
To fetch for what to expect.
Something they will never see.
Feel its touch or realize it to get.

The info fishers,
Sniffing around using hollow bait.
And with an assortment of outdated tactics,
Of false allegations.
Served on paper plates.
Making more sensational,
What is not there at all to appear.
Yet passed around from ears to hear,
How tasteful something is...
That has been faked.

Then if not satisfied by reactions,
To created made up facts.
The info fishers remain determined,
They will have it validated.
What does not exist but wish attracts.
Added are spiced deceptions.
Condiments with sweetened lies.
Even those bored on the streets admit,
What before had been omitted...
Now has excited their suspicions.
Although hidden from them,
Are the lies and excuses produced...
To induce delusions.
With a complement of alibis denied.
Until the info fishers,
Have successfully reduced truth.
With their own version of it introduced.
Too popular to be disbelieved.
