Invisible Ink Poem by Valerie Dohren

Invisible Ink

Rating: 5.0

I wrote a poem today
the most beautiful poem
you could ever imagine

The words had been hidden deep in my heart,
sequestered there for so very, very long -
then, awaiting expression,
like an avalanche, they spilled forth
as diamonds cascading down from Paradise

Down and down they fell
onto the waiting and eager page
glistening so brightly they took my breath away
dazzling in the darkness of my room
Illuminating all that lay within

But then, without warning, they began to disappear
melting away before my eyes, fading, fading -
fading back into infinity (oh the pain, the indescribable pain)
so I grappled desperately with my hands to save them -
unable to do so, because I didn't realise,
I had been using invisible ink -

So now, they are lost forever
Never to be recaptured -
Perhaps you will find them one day
hidden deep in your own heart
sequestered there - for so very, very long
