Invisible Status Ladder Poem by Adedolapo Olisa

Invisible Status Ladder

Rating: 5.0

Why do I climb you? or try or even want to try?
every choice I desire to align with your track
I counter choose just to realign too!

Without a lens, you appear inverse to a bottomless pit
when you are just a pit deep in height
for as we grow in height, we descend in satiability

Limitless and peakless, depthless and bottomless
intoxicated you leave me
obssessed I feel for your appetizing falsehood

I hear your inaudible voice very encrypted in my skull
'You are moving up! ' and subtle wink
I catch the chill like you're a harlot
your lies carress my ears to submission

How do you make my discernment my enemy?
whilst baking the little honesty left in me with the heat of deceit
Every divine attribute you strip of its core
One step at a time,
you lure with ascension and increase
and promise success quenched in happiness
but you deliver only vanity an futility

I'm tethered to the temporary
and inclined against repentance
as long as i pursue your ease, your sham

Daily, I increase and not the Spirit
you drive me swiftly up flesh's freedom highway
my ailing heart you feed with pride
and pride you make my prize

I say no! I want joy not your tease of happiness
joy from decreasing not the opposite
joy tried and unchanged in suferring
Joy fed with fleshly hunger
starved of self accomplishment outside divine gaze

I descend against perfect selfishness
Refuse to peak at slavery to sin
for at the unattainable peak of every status ladder
lies the worship, exaltation and adoration of self

so descend my soul
to the depths of humility, let go
that Christ may lead
and I, with blind obedience, yield to his bid
