Isn'T That Shameful For Us? - Poem by Ayyappa Paniker

Everyday
at night
in the kitchen
a little food
must be kept.

Suppose,
the thief was to come
if he's hungry
doesn't find food
He
might get angry
and cross
and get away
without thieving a thing.

Isn't that shameful for us?.

There are so many things to ponder in this small poem.
In Indian tradition we offer food to all guests who come visiting the house.
Generally we keep a small amount of cooked food ready for any guest who may come to our house.Nothing left in the kitchen for the guest is shameful.
It is a funny poem shedding light on one of the Indian way of life.

That is the way of Shri. Ayyappa Panicker to express things in a sarcastic satire n order to ridicule the traditional foolery (Report)Reply
