It Can Make Difference Poem by V P Mahur

It Can Make Difference

I highly owe to you
For, your love has
Given me so many thoughts
To each corner
My heart is filled
With your painful memories
If it bursts
It will touch the heights of
Vast, blue sky
Taking my feelings
Into the sorrowful dwellings
This is why
I always hold my heart
To avoid the eruption
Of my thoughts
Yet it is a sleeping volcano
That doesn’t let me sleep
Lest it should burst
It will make
My doom dark
With the dust and smoke of
All ill feelings
We have from so called
Well wishers
Your icy touch
To my heart is a clutch
That can make a difference
Too much
And can pacify the boiling heat
And force the volcanic fires
Of feels to retreat

happy almost-birthday to you. a big 5-0! as for the poem, the first of yours i've read. let me read it again............excuse me........i'm reading. shhhhhhhh! ===================================== i'm guessing that these lines: Your icy touch To my hearts clutch Can make a difference Too much .............are very important to the meaning of the poem. BUT i am not sure what they mean, especially the word clutch. i want to believe it is used here as a noun, rather than a verb. i have copied definitions of clutch, as a noun, below: [are you possibly comparing some mechanism of your heart to a coupling used to connect and disconnect a driving and a driven part, as listed in definition #2? if that is the use of clutch here, then i say you should have an apostrophe in hearts so it reads heart's. see what i mean. that makes sense to me, though i wouldn't have thought of it if i hadn't read the definitions. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2- clutch noun Definition of CLUTCH 1 a: the claws or a hand in the act of grasping or seizing firmly b: an often cruel or unrelenting control, power, or possession [the fell clutch of circumstance — W. E. Henley] c: the act of grasping, holding, or restraining 2 a: a coupling used to connect and disconnect a driving and a driven part (as an engine and a transmission) of a mechanism b: a lever (as a pedal) operating such a clutch 3 : a tight or critical situation: pinch [come through in the clutch] 4 : clutch bag - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - AND, ............... i had the feeling that the person referred to as you, in the poem's first line, was thought of in a 'nice' way by the speaker. but the use of icy touch makes me think otherwise. or are there mixed feelings/interactions between you and me? ? ? maybe my problem in understanding is because in the first line you write i owe to you. i normally think of someone owing someone for something 'nice', but perhaps the speaker is using owe to you the way i would use blame you......to indicate something NOT nice that is from you. an interesting poem. there certainly is a lot of turmoil/anguish expressed. right? thanks for sharing. bri ;)
