It Is Time To Love Again Poem by Daya Nandan

I have kept my heart hidden for very long,
For i believed that there is nowhere it could belong,
For each person i trusted it to broke it fast,
And even with all my effort my love could never last,

After collecting the pieces of my broken heart,
Taking years to fix the broken pieces torn apart,
Living in fear that i would be hurt again,
Fearing that my love will be poured down the drain,

i managed to heal the wounds so it could beat again,
Yet i am haunted by memories when i gave it off in vain,
But, despite the sharp pain of each heart break,
Despite ugly scars of each stupid mistake,

Despite the depression that drove me to the edge,
Despite the lies and sorrow that fuelled my rage,
Despite all the damage from each mistake i make,
I have learned to make it a stepping stone that i will take,

It is time to rise up and give my soul a chance,
And give my love life another glance,
It is time accelerate forward and break each chain,
It is time to fight my fears and love again.
