It Rains In Delhi 04 Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

It Rains In Delhi 04

Rating: 5.0

(4) Benevolent Hearts

Hearts that feed the millions
Do no bow before the minions
They do not know violence
But tolerance and benevolence.

Not a stone did they pelt
At the police men
Who tear-gassed them
And water-gunned.

Nor did they shy away
From talks with the ministers
Who fail to see their mind
Leave alone, the real problem.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Farmers unrest continues for the fifty-fourth day. We have prime minister who has not cared to meet them and talk the issue out. But he sends sleuths of National Investigating Agency after them to scare them to submission. A tughlaq would squirm in his grave.

Thank you, Rini, for sharing my anxiety and mental disturbance at the total apathy of the government towards the grievances of the farmers.

Farmers are considered as the backbone of a country. They work to put food on our table.

Farmers are neglected in most countries. That's rather strange considering that agriculture is a very important aspect of the economic life
