Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Poem by Mohammad Muzzammil

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

Rating: 5.0

In Jallianwala Bagh, the garden of pain,
A massacre occurred, a moment of shame,
Where the innocent fell, by the bullet and sword,
Their cries of anguish, forever ignored.

The sun shone bright, on that fateful day,
As families gathered, to laugh and play,
But their joy was short-lived, as fate intervened,
Their dreams and hopes, forever tarnished and weaned.

In the heart of Amritsar, the soldiers arrived,
To enforce their rule, and ensure they survived,
They locked the gates, and loaded their guns,
And without mercy, they fired their deadly stun.

The bullets rained down, on men, women, and child,
The screams of terror, echoed far and wild,
The blood flowed freely, on the earth's embrace,
The tragedy unfolded, without any grace.

The innocent fell, like petals in the breeze,
Their lives snuffed out, with a deafening ease,
Their dreams and futures, forever lost,
The price of freedom, at a terrible cost.

But the spirit of the fallen, lives on to this day,
Their memory alive, in our hearts they stay,
Their sacrifice, a call to action and change,
To fight for justice, and never to be estranged.

In Jallianwala Bagh, a garden of pain,
We remember the fallen, and their unending reign,
Their lives may be gone, but their message remains,
To never give up, and to break the chains.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

2) and I felt an unquenched anger to the much-revered Queen, who refused to tender an apology to the people of India for this uncalled-for violence and unrequited massacre of unarmed civilians. So people too selfish to repent.

So true, dear poet! Jallianwala Bagh remains a Garden of Pain for the entire Indian conscience to this day. Having read about this horrendous incident as a lil kid, when I visited the place a few years back, my heart sank, yet again!
