Je Regrette Ma Mere.(Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Je Regrette Ma Mere.(Translation) .

Rating: 5.0

Je veux l'amener a l'Inde
Et lui acheter
De l'or et des bijoux
Je veux l'entendre soupirer
Pour les pauvres dans la rue
Et s'emerveille
Au gris impitoyable
De la Mer d'Arabie
Elle avait raison de tout
Y compris ma guitare idiote
Et la ou elle me porta
Elle comprendrait
Les drapeaux de coton
Les tristesses du port
Les arches du passe
Elle me tapoterait la petite tete
Et elle benirait machanson risquee.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Leonard Cohen lived in Mumbai, India for quite some time, and wrote many poems there. The poem is about a personal love for his mother, which many men feel about their mothers. He realizes how much he owes his mother, and he would like to bring her to India and buy her gold and jewels. His mother would feel for the poor in the streets and understand all the cotton flags and the sorrows of the port.
His mother was right about everything, especially his foolish guitar and the fame and fortune which it brought him. Fame might seem like the ultimate ambition, but it has a large downside also. Some cannot cope with it. Finally, he thinks she would give her blessing
to his risque (' dirty')song.
The poem has no punctuation.

Kumarmani Mahakul 30 March 2018

Leonard Cohen lived in Mumbai, India and gained some experiences. He wrote many poems and this poem he wrote about personal life and his mother's love. This translation poem on family is also very beautiful. The poem written without punctuation is still amazing and very brilliant. Mother ever gives blessings. This is excellently penned poem....10
