Joy & Happiness (Stepping Out On The Wild Side) Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Joy & Happiness (Stepping Out On The Wild Side)

I often found it hard
Stepping out on the wild
Side.
My personal record store
Found around the corner of
Your lips.
Red graffiti filling the
Cement cracks
Smeared against your lips.
God knows I love this song,
This feeling that remembers
A time & place.
Happiness walking down
the street on it's way to the
barber shop.
Had to stop and listen to the
sound.
About half a block away
from the screech of tires.
Going to meet Joy a little
later by an empty building
& Fill it with sound
Soon as she gets off,
I'll shoot straight down there.
In collaboration to the
Foundation of the black
Pumps she loves so much
Reaching towards the sky.
Soon as I feel it I'll stand up.
Soon as I see Joy I'll stand
up, & let it be known.
Dancing between the sheet
music laid out on the stand
of our eyes.
The percussion of terrified
hearts up late night with
nothing to do.
Joy becoming a muse to
happiness.
Stepping out on the wild
side while God toots his trumpet.
Up late with nothing to do.
Not a care to whose around,
Not a judge, Not a single jury in the
world to answer to.
Happiness with his hands
wrapped around Joy.
Toot that horn louder
While the moon peeks
Through the windows of lingerie.
In collaboration to the
Foundation of the black
Pumps she loves so much
Reaching towards the sky
My favorite record store

I often found it hard
Stepping out on the wild
Side
