Just A Dream Remembered... Poem by Srimayee Ganguly

Just A Dream Remembered...

Rating: 5.0

I think I know you
For I've seen in the silence of the night-
A debonair silhouette against the mistiness
Before I caught your wayward gleam.
I've outlived the bliss of tropical storms,
And you may once more disarm me.

I think I know you
For I've known the arresting darkness
That your eyes emanate in that peerless style,
My nocturnal darling.

Our notoriety-
Unrivaled, unparalleled
A regime in the tempest of feral frenzies;
Shining like a heliotrope in the moss' eye!
The remembrance of an elixir so intoxicating
Is smitten in my cerise lips.

I think I know you
For I've known the caress of an exotic silk
Abrupt and fleeting, in my very own skin.
Is it the brush of royal tiger against the faint foliage green?
Or the salty zephyrs of oceans' green beckoning the nameless air stream?

I think I know you
For I've seen the mysterious canopy of your hiding
I've drifted into that paradise you eluded me into camouflaging,
Trailing the airy essence of thy strange mirth...

I think I know you
As I comb back through my nightly reminiscences
I playback the sound of your lurking footsteps
And rehearse the sound of thy subtle breath...

Lovely writing. The two uses of 'thy' are either essential or uncomfortable. Perhaps the poem would be more timeless, without them?

A beautiful poem. Your last two lines are my favourites: 'I playback the sound of your lurking footsteps/And rehearse the sound of thy subtle breath... '. Top score!
