There was a man who was lost.
He had nowhere to turn.
No one to turn to.
Until one day God came to him.
'Come, ' God said to him.
'Take my hand and I will show you the way.'
The man hesitated.
'Who are you? ' the man asked suspiciously.
'You do not know me.'
God smiled and answered,
'You are the candle and I am the flame.
Take my hand and I will make you shine as bright
as the brightest star in the heavens.'
Still the man hesitated.
'Will you bring me riches? ' the man asked.
'I will bring you salvation, ' God replied.
'Will you give me fame? ' the man demanded to know.
'I will give you eternity, ' God offered.
'Just take my hand and I will show you all the glories
of heaven and all the joys of forever.'
God extended his hand.
'Just take my hand and I will show you a love greater than any
you shall ever know.'
The man stared at God's hand and shook his head.
'Your way is not for me, ' he told God as he
turned and walked away.
For the man was a coward and prized
gold and the flesh and worldly things.
God lowered his hand and sadly watched the man start
down the wrong path.
As the man walked away he heard God utter two words that
haunted him throughout his entire life.
'Damn fool.'
God always knows what is best, the flesh here, over-rode the spiritual. God offered eternal gifts, but man could not see beyond wordly riches. A much inspired poem.Thought provoking! ; D
