Kanata Poem by Nel Omofolarin

Kanata

Rating: 2.5

Wish them bliss
Whose fellowship is with our lady of snow
Rich harvest to bestow their bounty
Who abode with food basket of the Empire
Odes to all men of goodwill
Whose incorruptible allegiance lay all-pledged
To jealously defend her unity and honours
Against arid wiles of predatory delinquents
Who in endemic fellowship offered pseudo-patriotic creed
On sacred alter of thy founding prophylactic genre
Never again shall infidel of peace
Warm these fecund coasts with warring wills
Play piano with peaceful pianissimo from Ontario
Let a gentle zephyr evenly shares her harmony
Where the world together all congregates
Where loyalists faithfully hail their creed
O! Canada we stand on guard for thee
