Dillip, that's a great compliment! With this Kerouac book-to-be, I'm striving for succinctness.

From what I remember of On the Road, I wonder if the travelling allowed him the peace of mind or openness to be able to truly see the people he was meeting? (And I am going to have to reread this book.)

Carl, he was very gifted in this respect. If he was able to truly see people like Ginsberg and Burroughs, then others were a breeze to him.

Way down the road, Robert. Firstly, Leonard Cohen! He was supposed to be before Kerouac!
