A lost opportunity and the realization that sometimes there are no second chances...You really have tapped into Kerouac's psyche here, Richard. Brilliant!

Tragically, Kerouac didn't capitalize on the second chance that he had with his daughter. Tapping into Kerouac's psyche intensifies the pain that they both endured. It moves me to tears...and it's a huge motivator to continue with the work that needs to be done!

Brevity at its best. The two simple lines suggest so much. So very touching and moving. A reader could be reduced to tears. To my favorites.

To reduce a reader to her/his tears is one of the highest forms of flattery for a poet. It is especially such a huge compliment for me because I've been investing so much time and energy into The Kerouac Venture.
