Leap Day Poem by Dee Daffodil

Leap Day

This is the day...
Of the year that is strange
This is the day...
Of a year marked for change

I knew it was marked
Within minutes of midnight
When the first subtle shock...
Took flight

Since then...
It's been wave after wave
Of the tides of change...
Lapping my shore

Some may be good...
Some...not so...
But...change there will be...
That's for sure!

This is the day...
Of the year that is strange
This is the day...
Of the year marked for change

So on this February 29th...
I think it was fair
To be surprised not...
By anything coming my way...

For this was the day...
Of the year that is strange!

Dee, I would have commented earlier, but I kept chuckling a bit too much over Barry mentioning it was the 'Year of the Frog'. Anyway, I enjoyed the poem...kept wondering if indeed anything strange had happened for you on that day. Zen

Dee, It seems that you might be reading too much into one day ... but, on the other hand, it may be the calender equivalent to the full moon. Rarer than that though (once every four years and all) maybe things can become just that much stranger. I am reminded that the 29th has also been known as ' Sadie Hawkins' day. In her day, I guess, what she was doing was considered completely out of line. As a last passing note: here in 2008, I've heard it said that (I thought humorously) , it is also the year of the frog.
