Lest Not Forget Poem by Laquory Jones

Lest Not Forget

Verse 1
Drifted memories running down the
River streams I sit back thinking about
Our days of youth & how I would pick
Up my courage and then
The words would begin to follow suit
The Ancestors of the Ancient Pasts
Talked about how life was never what
It seemed sometimes I don't
Ever want to fall asleep
Because the pain runs far too deep
but, please don't wake me up
From this precious dream at times
I just want to scream because
It feels as though I've fallen through
A ravine (Do you know that feeling?)

Chorus:
Lest not forget your blazing sun and
Raging moon sometimes I can't help but
Feel these moments between us two
Especially within our days of youth
I'm just spitting my truth
Because that's all that I can do
Never forget all the love that I have for you
How I would shoot Cupid's arrow
Hoping that it would hit you before the
Days were through as if you never knew

Verse: 2
I have those days where I want to break
Down and cry I get those days of asking
Myself Why, you see some things never could
Prepare you in time, there's not a minute
That you never crossed my mind, nothing
Could prepare me for these moments in life
Like the day you had to say goodbye
God gave you your wings on that fateful night
May I rewind? The pain of loss never do
Subside still the heart strings hit a certain
Vibe, I never knew how much pain that
You were going through I keep thinking if
I only knew but in the end there was
Nothing more to do so the heartaches
Only grew sometimes I find myself
Lighting candles sometimes everything
Gets too heavy to handle while seeing the
Very fabric of life gets dismantled
It just keeps getting harder each time

Chorus:
Lest not forget your blazing sun and
Raging moon sometimes I can't help but
Feel these moments between us two
Especially within our days of youth
I'm just spitting my truth
Because that's all that I can do
Never forget all the love that I have for you
How I would shoot Cupid's arrow
Hoping that it would hit you before the
Days were through as if you never knew

Verse 3:
There's so many things I regret
Some moments I will never forget
I remember you had told me
If we ever crossed that bridge
Lest not forget all the things
That we ever did
I admit there were times I
Took you for granted but,
Your soft spoken words are for
Ever planted from the earliest days
Of youth at first I never did
Understand it but now that I'm older
They're beginning to bear their fruit
It's crazy how that happens when
They start to bare their roots
There's so many things that I've wanted
To say but could never find the perfect
Fitted words to come into play
And now that you've gone away
I guess on this pad they'll stay

Chorus:
Lest not forget your blazing sun and
Raging moon sometimes I can't help but
Feel these moments between us two
Especially within our days of youth
I'm just spitting my truth
Because that's all that I can do
Never forget all the love that I have for you
How I would shoot Cupid's arrow
Hoping that it would hit you before the
Days were through as if you never knew
