Let This Maddness End Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Let This Maddness End

Rating: 5.0

(Dying soldier's plead)

"Dear God, let this madness end, "
Muttered the dying soldier
Face pale, eyes beginning to glaze
"I want to go home to my mother."

His mate held him
Keeping head above the mud
Tears streaming down his face
With sigh the soldier died.

War follows war, each more horrific
Obliterating lives on battlefields
Harvesting precious flowers
Making families weep and wail.

Wreaths of poppies
Remembering the dead
Names inscribed in stone
For the dead who had hardly lived.
