Life's Journey Poem by Sandra Feldman

Life's Journey

Rating: 5.0

In Solitude,
The embers of past passion,
Slowly burn their daily ration,
Memories speak with strange compassion,
As Time flies,
Towards Universal insatisfaction,
Thus is Life's coming attraction,
A badly directed film,
To no one's satisfaction.

I liked the way the structure of this allowed end-of-the-line rhyming but did not cripple the poem by having to rhyme everytime [I notice this kind of thing cuz I can't end-line rhyme without destroying the atmosphere, deflecting the impact, or really mangling the sense of the poem]. Rhyming adds glide to the poem and I so appreciate its silken presence especially when a poet goes and jerks the rug out from under my feet! ! ! Thus - - - -] Thus is Life's coming attraction, A badly directed film, To no one's satisfaction. [- - - - - - -the perfect rug jerking lines. Love it. I'm sorry you're in this emotional area right now, but since you are.... fantastic job! ! ! ! Need I say a 10? Oh, as for me, you can play with words, amputate them, blend them, graft them, invent them- - - I get it! ! ! ! It's a huge plus to me.

Sandra, did you mean dissatisfaction? Insatisfaction may be the French version.
