Light Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Light

Light to get it bright to like.
Is appreciated more.
After one has explored,
A darkness to ignore.
Then that day comes,
With it done to reveal...
Obstacles placed and shadows,
Not before seen.
Giving life much more meaning.
To adventure.
And challenges to face and erase.
Testing one's faith to validate.
With an expansion of light one discovers,
Has been there within...
In one's mind if they chose,
To follow and not allow to dim.
Escaping away from darkness.
Wherever it is.
To fear the appearance of it.
And who it affects,
As a way of life to accept.
With expecting nothing more from darkness.
But what they get to share with others.
Living in despair, disappointment.
And borrowed complaints.
To satisfy the doing.
As if no other option for them exists.
