Listening To Poor Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Listening To Poor

Listening to poor

Not physical bondage alone
But mental mileage
Not to surrender to injustice
And stick to promises

Not word given to friends
After listening to his woes at the end
But to the nation and people
Who helped to gain freedom after struggle?

Why do we still fight for color and race?
Why can't we bring happiness on face?
When we have come out of foreign yoke
We can move freely and cut the jokes

Are we hell bent on cutting our own roots?
Are we still shooting innocents?
We are firing at crowd
These all facts look not sound

Real freedom means something
Where poor have said to bring
Changes for common good
Where at least everybody will have food and shelter
